Reset a user's password

As an administrator, you may need to reset a user’s password. This is required when a new user fails to activate their account within the 7 day time period.

 Important

When you reset a user’s password, the user receives an email with a link to create a new password. The link expires after 1 hour, so it is important to do the reset at a time when the user will be available to receive and act on the email.

  1. In the sidebar, select Settings > Organization Settings to display your organization’s profile.
The People tab is selected by default.
  2. Locate the user whose password you want to reset.

     Search Tip

Use the search field to locate a specific user by name or email address. Click Search_clear.png in this field to clear the criteria.

  3. Click the user’s name to display their member profile.
This page displays the user’s basic profile details and includes all functionality for managing their account within the organization.
  4. Click Reset Password.
A message indicates that the user’s password has been reset and the user's status changes to Password reset.
The user receives a text message to the phone number they provided for multi-factor authentication in their user profile. The message contains a temporary password that they can use to create a new password. The user has 1 hour to complete this step.
